Dear Alpena Lions Club Members,
The last two weeks have been quite notable. A total of 47 members and guests participated in a Christmas celebration at the Alpena Yacht Club. The cocktails and hors d’ oeuvres provided an excellent prelude of conversation and comradery prior to dinner. A blind Chinese raffle on eight donated items netted the club $150 for the administration fund. The dinner, prepared by Fremont Catering, was outstanding. The after dinner entertainment was a hilarious comedic rendition by Roger Phillips and Sonia Titus. I wish to give special thanks to Lori Sutherland and Nancy Hammond for putting the evening together. Additionally, many of my fellow Lions donated gifts that the Salvation Army will ultimately pass along to many deserving children. Friday and Saturday saw a good number of Lions out “selling Old Newsboy Newspapers” on two of the coldest days we have seen this Fall. Thanks to all who participated.
Our next event is the annual Kid’s Christmas Program on December 27th. We will soon be getting information out about the annual fruit sale in February.
Tomorrow’s program will be introduced by Ken Dully and featuring City Manager Thad Taylor and his discussion on Michigan’s Revenue Sharing and its impact on Alpena. Next Tuesday, December 20 Bernie Lamp III will introduce Tad Martin for his presentation on Intro to David Ramsey Financial Peace University.
We have a lot going on, it should be fun and I hope to see many of you participating in these events.
Sincerely,
Lion Dick Sutherland
